Frequently Asked Questions
Non-Profit Awards FAQs
Can an organization be a finalist in more than one category?
No. An organization may only be named a finalist in one category—the category in which it received the highest score.
Can my organization win again in a particular category? Can my organization win the Community Choice Award again?
Organizations that have won in a specific category within 3 years are not eligible to submit again in that category, except for the Community Choice Award, which is determined by community voting.
Does my organization need to be listed in the 211 Broward Database to submit nominations?
No — if your agency is not listed in the database, we encourage you to learn how to add it here.
How are the finalists determined?
We are fully committed to following a strict scoring process in order to determine accurate finalist results. Community leaders (local and national) serve on a prestigious panel of Awards Judges. Judges independently review submissions and complete a score sheet provided to them. All score sheets are reviewed multiple times as is the computation of the scores. The organizations/leaders with the top three highest scores are named as finalists. The Lifetime Achievement & 211 Broward Excellence Award winners are determined by 211 Broward.
If my address or headquarters is outside of Broward County but I serve Broward County residents, can I submit a nominations?
Yes. Your organization’s headquarters does not need to be located in Broward County; however, you must have a service location within Broward County that directly serves Broward County residents to be eligible.

When an organization wins the Collaboration category, who receives the grant?
As part of the nomination process, one organization is named as the lead and the other organizations are named as collaborating organizations. The lead organization is awarded the grant and is responsible for sharing with the collaborating organizations.
When and how will the finalists be revealed?
Finalists will be announced early this spring during our VIP Announcement Show on 211 Broward’s YouTube Channel, sponsored by Broward Health.
Who can submit nominations?
