Browser Compatibility
To ensure that we meet or exceed the requirements of the 1998 Amendment to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, we continually review our site and modify pages to remove accessibility problems for people with disabilities.
The documents on our site are in many formats. Many are in ASCII or HTML format, accessible to people who use screen-reading software and to those with other vision or mobility impairments. Generally, we use Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to create pages and documents that are accessible to that segment of our customer base. In creating HTML documents, we follow Section 508 standards; for example, we include alternate text to describe graphics.
Currently, our website contains documents in Adobe Acrobat PDF file format. Most PDF files will be accessible to those who use assistive technology such as screen readers. Some legacy or software-created PDF files may not be accessible. If you are experiencing difficulty reading any PDF files, please contact the Administration Office at 954-390-0493, and we will be happy to send you an alternate version.
Chat and Text Services
211 Broward’s chat and text services provide free, confidential, and anonymous emotional support, crisis intervention, and community referrals. Participation is voluntary, and users are not required to share names or identifying information to receive assistance. All interactions are handled by trained Helpline Counselors who adhere to 211 Broward’s confidentiality and information security standards.
While all conversations are confidential, exceptions apply when a user discloses information indicating abuse, neglect, or imminent danger to self or others. In such cases, limited identifying information may be collected to fulfill legal and ethical obligations to ensure safety.
211 Broward complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and does not knowingly collect or store personal information from children under 13 years of age. As an anonymous service, parental consent is not required; however, safety and mandated reporting protocols will be followed when necessary.
Chat and text records may be securely retained in de-identified form for quality assurance, supervision, and program evaluation. By using this service, users agree to these terms and acknowledge understanding of the limits of confidentiality and the scope of assistance provided by 211 Broward.
